Here you will find answers the popular questions about Cheshire English Lessons. Of course, please contact us if you have any other questions.
What will my class be like?
You will have lots of practice for communication using real English in many different situations. Higher-level classes also include preparation for FCE/CAE/CPE/IELTS as appropriate. Classes are very interactive and we use different methods to help you to improve your English vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation as well as practise your speaking, listening, reading and writing.
We base the classes on your study needs, so you won’t just be studying from a textbook; you’ll study English using different materials (all included in the price) and make everything from the class available to you at home. We also give you some homework and extra practice so that you continue learning in a fun, active way throughout the week.
How much do classes cost?
Our classes offer flexible registration and are extremely affordable.
£40 = one study month (4 x 2hr classes); that works out at £5 per hour! You only sign up for four weeks at a time, so the maximum you ever pay for a month is £40. If your schedule means you can’t study for a month, we offer pay-as-you-go lessons at a rate of £13 per session, subject to their being space in a suitable class for you.
We also offer 1:1 or small group sessions on a one-off basis (eg for exam preparation) or for several weeks. This can be done in person or via Skype. Contact us for more information.
Can you help me to find the right level class for me?
We will find the right level for you with a free English assessment at a time convenient for you. You will get feedback on what you should focus on in your English and can ask any questions you have.
I have an A2 certificate. Which class is right for me?
There are different ways of describing English levels. A2 is part of the CEFR system. There are also general study levels and ESOL levels:
- A1/Beginner/ESOL Entry 1
- A2/Pre-intermediate/ESOL Entry 2
- B1/Intermediate/ESOL Entry 3
- B2/Upper-intermediate/ESOL Level 1
- C1/Advanced/ESOL Level 2
Don’t worry if you aren’t sure of your level; we can help you to find the most suitable class for you.
I have family and work commitments. When can I study?
We can offer you classes at different times of the day to suit your work and childcare commitments.
All of our classes are organised with family and work in mind, so you should not have any problems with school drop-off and pick-up times. Our morning classes are 10.00-12.00, afternoon classes are 12.30-2.30 or 4.00-6.00 and evening classes are 7.00-9.00. If you work shifts, we can discuss flexible class attendance with you.
Can you help me prepare for an English exam?
We are experienced in helping individuals to prepare for Cambridge English exams (KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE and IELTS) and have both worked as assessors and examiners for a variety of English exams. We also have experience in helping candidates prepare for the Life in the UK Test and B1 English Language Test requirements for British Citizenship.
If you want to, we can also offer you some 1:1 or small group exam practice specifically for your qualification. Many people like to do this before they register to take an exam, and we are experienced in giving preparation advice which focuses on your needs.
Cheshire English Lessons do not lead to an exam or qualification, but the classes will help you to prepare for exam-style tasks, and we can give you advice about studying at home. We can also help you to find a local centre at which to sit the exam. Wherever you want to be with your English, we can help.
Do I need to buy anything for my classes?
No. £40 for four weeks covers all your classes and all materials. You should bring a notebook and a pen to classes. A dictionary is also helpful. Of course, if you want to invest in a book or course, we can help you to find the best resources for self-study.
