Sally Janes

Hello, I’m Sally. Originally from the Midlands, I now live in Cheshire with my husband and son.

I received my Cambridge and postgraduate ESOL/EFL teaching qualifications in the UK and have been fortunate enough to live and work in many places: Belgrade, Lublin, Kyoto and Nottingham to name but a few. From beginners to proficiency, I love teaching all levels, and I have a considerable experience of preparing students for English language exams such as Trinity ISE B1/B2, KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE and IELTS. As well as teaching, I’ve worked in various colleges and universities in the UK and abroad as a lecturer, teacher trainer, guest speaker, manager, proofreader, accent trainer, assessor and examiner. My professional interests include teaching of English for Academic Purposes, English for Engineering and IT and English for Medical Professions, all of which I regularly tutor in and develop study materials for.

I know the challenges that learning a language poses: I graduated with a undergraduate degree in Serbian and Croatian Studies, and I have also studied Russian, French and Japanese. My aim is to enable my students to use English independently. To that end, I’m very interested in teaching grammar and vocabulary in communicative ways that are active, fun and memorable. You are very welcome to join a class with me.

Jennie Nemeth

Hello, I’m Jennie. I live in Chester with my husband and three boys.

I used to live in Hungary, where I worked in a private language school for four years. For the last twenty years I’ve worked for colleges and universities in the UK and am experienced in teaching all levels, from complete beginners to proficiency level. I have extensive experience of preparing students for all sorts of exams including B1, KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE and IELTS. I originally come from Northern Ireland but have lived in the UK for the last twenty years. I graduated with a degree in English and then completed my postgraduate teaching qualification in English as a Foreign Language. I love visiting different countries and have spent time in Denmark, the USA and Central Europe.

I love interacting with students and watching students progress from beginner to advanced levels. I like seeing students develop in confidence, meeting new people and learning English to have a full and enjoyable life in the UK. I don’t stick to a textbook but instead love teaching lessons which give students real English and lots of real-life practice for grammar and vocabulary. As a busy mom, I understand what it is like to juggle work, family and study commitments and will you give all the support you will need to achieve your goals in English.
